An acute injury is generally an injury that is moderate to severe and with sudden onset. Acute injuries are typically associated with a traumatic event such as clashing into another player during sports or a fall from a bike. A traumatic impact can cause your bone to crack, muscles to tear or ligaments to snap.

At Aptiva Health, we offer same-day and walk-in appointments for acute injury evaluations to evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute injuries and conditions. We treat these conditions in our General Medicine, Orthopedics, Sports Medicine, and Physical Therapy departments.

At Aptiva Health, we have onsite digital x-ray systems, ultrasounds, and other advanced imaging capabilities that allow our healthcare providers to quickly assess and diagnose a wide range of acute injuries and conditions. For patients, our robust diagnostic and specialist support not only allows for quick diagnosis, but also expedited specialist appointments at a fraction of the cost of other facilities. Aptiva Health is an independent multi-specialty group, which means patients are not charged with facility fees or other costs associated with hospital-based services like they would receive at a local emergency department.

Our orthopedic, sports medicine, spine, physical therapy, imaging, and other specialist departments also offer same-week patient evaluations for acute injuries. If a patient is seen for an acute injury on the same day by our general medicine department, they can often follow up with a specialist appointment within the same week!
