Downtown Louisville's Most Convenient Orthopedic & Spine Option
When you work downtown, study at UofL, or live in Old Louisville, Russell or Portland, driving across town to the East End or out to Newburg for an orthopedic appointment is a real cost - traffic, parking, an hour of unpaid time. Most downtown professionals end up putting it off until the pain or injury is bad enough to force the issue.
Our downtown Louisville location is built to remove that friction. At 300 South 13th Street you have, under one roof:
Orthopedic surgery consultation - knee, shoulder, hip, hand and sports-injury specialists
Spine surgery consultation - two fellowship-trained spine surgeons (Dr. Casnellie and Dr. McConda from the Aptiva Spine Center of Excellence)
An on-site procedure suite - many epidural steroid injections, facet joint injections and minor orthopedic procedures done downtown, not referred to an outside surgical facility
Digital X-ray - imaging in your visit, not a separate trip
Physical therapy - including manual therapy, aquatic-therapy-trained clinicians, and chronic-pain rehabilitation specialists
Two full-service medical clinics - higher capacity than a typical satellite office means same-day and next-day appointments are usually available
Need an MRI? Orders go directly to the Aptiva Louisville Imaging Center at 3615 Newburg Road (cash-pay MRI at $350, the lowest published price in the region), and the report comes back into your chart - no faxing, no portal hunting.
Need surgery? Your spine or orthopedic surgeon operates at our outpatient ambulatory surgery center, and your physical therapy continues seamlessly downtown with the PT team that's been coordinating with the surgeon throughout your care.

Specialty Care Available at the Downtown Location
Spine Surgery Coverage (NEW)
With the addition of Dr. David McConda to the downtown team, the Aptiva Spine Center of Excellence is now represented at two Louisville locations - downtown and the central Newburg Road campus. For patients living, working or being treated in the downtown medical district, this means a consultation with a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon no longer requires a drive to Newburg. Both Dr. McConda and Dr. Casnellie perform the full range of spine procedures including lumbar microdiscectomy, cervical disc replacement, ACDF, and MAS TLIF. Same-day consultation is usually available.
Sub-block: Chronic Pain & Post-Surgical Rehabilitation (NEW)
The downtown PT team has an unusual concentration of clinical depth for patients dealing with chronic pain or recovering from surgery:
Wendy Mullins, PT specializes in chronic pain conditions including fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis, with advanced training in manual therapy, aquatic therapy and pain-management techniques. She joined Aptiva specifically to expand the downtown PT program.
Kim Siegrist, PTA brings 25 years of physical therapist assistant experience, including 12 years specializing in rehabilitation following lumbar fusion, cervical fusion and rotator cuff repair. She developed and led an aquatic therapy program specifically for post-lumbar-fusion patients.
Helen Jiang, PT, DPT takes a hands-on manual-therapy approach and is fluent in multiple languages.
For patients downtown who have been struggling with chronic back pain, post-surgical recovery that has plateaued, or fibromyalgia symptoms that have not responded to standard care, this is a clinically deep team that's geographically convenient.
Sub-block: Multilingual Care
Helen Jiang, PT, DPT provides physical therapy in multiple languages at the downtown location, expanding language-accessible care for downtown's international community and patients near the UofL international student population.
